Singapore Shares Surge. STI Jumps 0.4%; First Resources up Nearly 8%; Genting Sing, ST Engineering up Around 6%; Singtel up Nearly 5%

Singapore shares closed in the green on Friday, with investors reacting positively to the possibility of the US Federal Reserve choosing not to raise interest rates in September.

The Straits Times Index (STI), a key benchmark for the Singapore Exchange, ranged between 5,668.02 and 5,743.59 throughout the day. It ended the session at 5,743.59, up 23.54 points or 0.41% compared to Thursday's close.

First Resources up nearly 8%; Genting Sing, ST Engineering up around 6%; Singtel up nearly 5%; SIA Engineering, SGX up over 1%.

On the corporate front, shares of InnoTek (SGX:M14) plunged over 10% at the close as its attributable profit to owners during the first half of the year fell by 64% to SG$145,000 from SG$405,000 a year earlier.

First Resources (SGX:EB5) gained nearly 8% at the close as its attributable profit to owners jumped 57% during the first half of the year to $234.9 million from $149.2 million a year earlier.

Meanwhile, Golden Agri-Resources' (SGX:E5H) shares closed nearly 2% higher as its consolidated attributable profit rose 4.4% to $167.2 million in the first six months of 2026 from $160.3 million a year ago.
