President Donald Trump on August 21 shared on social media platform X a message from Greg Wischer of the United States Department of the Interior, stating that the National Park Service has repaired the fountain at Benjamin Banneker Park. The park is named after the 18th century astronomer, mathematician, and surveyor Benjamin Banneker, a free African American who assisted in surveying the boundaries for the new federal capital, Washington, D.C. It overlooks The Wharf in southwest DC.

Wischer said: "Another fountain has been fixed! The National Park Service has repaired the fountain at Benjamin Banneker Park." Trump reposted the message without additional comment.
