Alibaba's Damo Shares Source Code for AI Model Capable of Reading CT Scans

Alibaba's (HKG:9988) research arm, Damo Academy, has publicly shared the source code for its AI model, Damo Radar, trained on more than 400,000 abdominal CT scan reports and 15 million image-text pairs.

On Friday, the company released Damo Radar on the code-sharing platform Git Hub. The AI model leverages vision-language learning to analyze clinical reports without manual annotation. A same-day report from the South China Morning Post said the model can detect nearly 150 abdominal conditions, including cancers.

A paper published Thursday on Science.org said Radar demonstrated itself as a generalist AI and can be on par with radiology professionals on general and complex tasks.
