Amazon-backed (AMZN) Anthropic Chief Executive Dario Amodei was told by US President Donald Trump during a White House dinner that Washington will not slow down artificial intelligence progress, multiple outlets reported Sunday.

Concerns were raised that government restrictions on AI development could allow China to outpace the US in the AI race despite the higher risks associated with the rapid pace of development, according to the reports.

The meeting followed public calls from Amodei urging major developers to curb the development pace of AI and improve oversight, the reports said.

The White House and Anthropic did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
