On October 19, President Donald Trump posted on X, accusing Democrats of causing inflation and an “affordability” crisis and asserting that he is lowering prices.

“The Democrats gave us the Highest Inflation in History, and the Highest Prices to go with it and, as soon as l came into Office, they started screaming, "AFFORDABILITY." They are the ones that created the Affordability Crisis,” he wrote. He argued that his opponents were responsible for rising prices while portraying himself as reversing the trend.

Trump further claimed personal credit for economic performance and price declines: “I'm the one who created the Greatest Economy, and am bringing the prices down.” He also dismissed coverage of the issue as deceptive, writing, “It's just another Fake News CON JOB!” The post concluded with his sign-off: “President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
