Alphabet Shares Head for a Death Cross

Dow Jones00:35

Just in time for spooky season: Alphabet shares are headed for a death cross today, after the stock slid more than 12%.

A so-called death cross occurs when the 50-day moving average of a stock price crosses below the 200-day moving average. It signals a loss of momentum-the stock's short-term move is underperforming its longer-term trend. Some analysts view it as a sign that a share price has further to fall.

The last time Alphabet's stock made a death cross was in early April 2025, in the midst of Wall Street's tariff turmoil.
