🏆 Options Puppy Conclusion
Rating: BUY ON LONG-TERM AI GROWTH ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Good earnings today are nice. Great AI execution over the next few quarters is what could make AMD a true long-term winner.”Can AMD become a true challenger to NVIDIA in the AI race?
Overall, I would describe this earnings report as good, but not spectacular.
Revenue came in broadly in line with Wall Street’s expectations, while growth accelerated again thanks to its rapidly expanding Data Center business. The AI story remains alive, and that’s exactly where investors are paying the most attention.
⸻
📈 Data Center Continues To Be The Star
The biggest winner this quarter was once again AMD’s Data Center division.
According to Dolphin Research, AMD’s Instinct AI GPUs generated approximately US$2.7 billion in revenue, more than double last year’s US$1.1 billion.
That is an impressive achievement.
Even after considering previous China export restrictions, AI demand remains extremely strong.
This tells me one thing:
👉 Companies are still investing aggressively in AI infrastructure.
⸻
💻 Server CPUs Continue Growing
It isn’t just AI GPUs doing well.
AMD’s Server CPU business also continues gaining market share.
Together with other Data Center products, this segment generated roughly US$4 billion, representing more than 80% year-on-year growth.
This is encouraging because AI isn’t only about GPUs.
Every AI server also needs powerful CPUs, networking and supporting hardware.
AMD is benefiting from multiple parts of the AI ecosystem.
⸻
🚀 Guidance Is Better Than Expected
Looking ahead, management expects next quarter’s revenue to reach approximately US$12.7 billion to US$13.3 billion.
That is slightly above Wall Street’s estimate of US$12.6 billion.
Gross margins are expected to remain around 56%, showing AMD is maintaining profitability while continuing to invest for future growth.
Overall, guidance was positive.
But…
⸻
🤔 Why Didn’t Investors Get More Excited?
This is where things become interesting.
Although the numbers were good, investors today expect much more than “good.”
The market is already pricing AMD as an important AI player.
That means expectations have become much higher.
Dolphin Research estimates much of next quarter’s growth will still come from Data Center, contributing roughly US$1.2 billion to US$1.8 billion of additional revenue.
While this is healthy growth, it wasn’t the explosive acceleration many investors were hoping for.
⸻
🖥️ MI455X Is The Next Big Story
For me, the biggest focus isn’t this quarter.
It’s the next generation.
AMD has started shipping its new MI455X AI accelerator.
More importantly, AMD is moving beyond simply selling chips.
The company is beginning to deliver complete rack-scale AI clusters, providing customers with integrated AI infrastructure instead of individual processors.
This strategy could significantly increase the value of every customer deployment.
If successful, AMD could generate larger contracts and build stronger long-term relationships with enterprise customers.
⸻
🤝 Big AI Customers Are Already Coming
One reason I remain optimistic is AMD’s growing list of AI partners.
The company has announced collaborations with:
* OpenAI
* Meta
* Anthropic
* Microsoft
These partnerships suggest AMD’s AI hardware is gaining wider industry acceptance.
That doesn’t automatically guarantee huge revenue overnight, but it gives investors confidence that AMD is becoming a serious alternative within the AI ecosystem.
⸻
📊 Execution Matters More Than Announcements
However, partnerships alone aren’t enough.
The market now wants execution.
Investors want to see:
✅ Larger AI orders
✅ Faster revenue growth
✅ Stronger guidance
✅ Higher AI GPU shipments
The excitement around MI455X is already building.
Now AMD needs to convert that excitement into actual earnings growth.
⸻
🐶 Options Puppy Take
From my perspective, AMD continues moving in the right direction.
The AI opportunity remains enormous, and the Data Center business is proving it can grow rapidly.
The company is also expanding beyond CPUs into AI GPUs and complete AI infrastructure solutions.
However, today’s market rewards companies that consistently exceed already high expectations.
Good earnings are no longer enough.
Investors now expect great execution.
If AMD can successfully ramp up MI455X deployments while winning more enterprise AI customers, I believe the company’s long-term growth story remains intact.
For long-term investors, this quarter reinforces that AMD is still one of the key companies benefiting from the AI revolution. The next few quarters will be crucial in showing whether it can narrow the gap with NVIDIA and translate growing customer interest into faster revenue and earnings growth.
