Key points

  • Total group sales increased 2.8% to $3.18 billion during the first 14 weeks of the financial year.

  • Retail revenue grew 3% to $2.58 billion, while hotel revenue rose to $603 million.

  • Sales momentum moderated as rising cost-of-living pressures prompted customers to prioritise value-driven purchasing options.

Endeavour Group (ASX:EDV) recorded a 2.8% increase in first-quarter total group sales to $3.18 billion for the 14-week period ending in early F27.

The quarterly revenue expansion was driven primarily by retail gains, contrasting with a moderation in hotel spending amid broader economic headwinds.

“In a challenging macro-economic environment, our retail business continued to outpace the overall liquor market, delivering 3% sales growth in Q1, reflecting a very strong July and more moderate consumer spending since,” said Endeavour Group Managing Director and CEO Jayne Hrdlicka.

The retail division added three net new Dan Murphy’s stores and two net new BWS locations, while gaming revenue within the hotel segment remained flat year-on-year.

Looking ahead, the company stated that it expects consumers to continue managing spending carefully during the upcoming holiday trading season.

Following the announcement, the Endeavour Group share price was unchanged at $3.32.

The drinks and hospitality operator is executing network upgrades, with plans to finish 34 venue refurbishments and renewals by the end of the first half.

The group continues to focus on operating model simplification and loyalty programme integration, which reached a record 38% scan rate for pub+ members in its hotel venues.
