Sources: Samsung Buyback Likely to Far Exceed KRW100 Trln

MT Newswires Live08-20 17:20

Industry sources told Korea Economic Daily Samsung Electronics plans a board meeting this month to vote on a shareholder-return package including share buybacks with cancellation and a special dividend. The package is now expected at about KRW150–160 trln (≈CNY720–770 bln), well above earlier KRW100 trln reports.

Estimated FY free cash flow is KRW263 trln; cumulative FCF for the 2024–26 return period is ~KRW319 trln, implying roughly KRW160 trln available under a 50% FCF-return policy.

Samsung may pay a large one-off special dividend in addition to its regular dividend (KRW1,668 per share) and pursue substantial buybacks and cancellations to offset post-award share pressure and boost shareholder value.
