President Donald Trump announced on social media on August 20 that James Braid, his Director of Legislative Affairs, will leave the White House in September. Trump praised Braid for his critical role in numerous accomplishments with Congress, including the passage of "THE ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL," defeating Democrats in two shutdown showdowns, passing the GENIUS Act, defeating a record number of War Powers resolutions, and achieving the fastest Cabinet confirmation rate in decades.
"James has played a critical role in our many accomplishments with Congress, including THE ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL, beating the Democrats in two shutdown showdowns, passing the GENIUS Act, defeating a record number of War Powers resolutions, and the confirmation of my Cabinet at the fastest rate in decades," Trump said. "This has been, and will continue to be, the most successful Republican Congress in History. Thank you, James, for your service to our Nation!"
Braid has served as Director of Legislative Affairs since the beginning of the Trump administration, coordinating White House relations with Congress. His departure marks another personnel change in the Trump administration, though a successor has not yet been announced.
