Market Chatter: Namura Shipbuilding Plans Large-Vessel Dry Dock in Japan's Saga Prefecture by 2035; Shares Jump 7%

Japan's Namura Shipbuilding (TYO:7014) plans to build a dry dock for constructing large vessels in Imari Bay, Saga Prefecture, by 2035, Nikkei Asia reported Wednesday.

The Osaka-based shipbuilder plans to use the dry dock to resume the construction of liquefied natural gas tankers in Japan in collaboration with Imabari Shipbuilding and Kawasaki Heavy Industries (TYO:7012), according to the report.

Namura will study details for the new dock, including land reclamation and the installation of cranes and other equipment, it said.

Namura Shipbuilding did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Shares of the shipbuilder jumped more than 7% in recent trade.
