Hong Kong Stocks Open Higher as Easing Treasury Yields Offset Middle East Tensions

MT Newswires Live10:09

Hong Kong stocks opened higher on Thursday, tracking gains across Asian markets as investors weighed easing U.S. Treasury yields and ongoing Middle East tensions.

The Hang Seng Index rose 284.01 points, or 1.1%, to 25,779.08, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 107.87 points, or 1.3%, to 8,579.08.

U.S. stocks also ended modestly higher overnight, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, and Nasdaq Composite each gaining less than a quarter of a percent.

Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz slowed as most shipowners avoided the key waterway amid uncertainty over its reopening.
