President Donald Trump announced on August 20 via social media the nomination of Phil Axt to the U.S. District Court for the District of North Dakota. Axt currently serves as Solicitor General of North Dakota, where he has litigated numerous important cases for the state, including challenges to harmful Biden Administration policies.
Before becoming a lawyer, Axt attended the U.S. Military Academy and served the country admirably, including deployments to Afghanistan. He is a former law clerk to Judge Jennifer Elrod of the Fifth Circuit and a graduate of Yale Law School.
In his statement, Trump praised Axt as a "true warrior" who will always be a strong defender of the Constitution and Rule of Law. "Phil is a true warrior, and will always be a strong defender of the Constitution and Rule of Law. Congratulations Phil!" Trump wrote.
