On October 23, President Donald Trump posted on X alleging that Rep. Ilhan Omar used a “fake name” to be sworn into Congress and must “immediately” resign.
In the post, Trump claimed Omar’s “real name” is Ilhan Nur Said Elmi and said her last name is “also the exact name of her brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, the person they said she married and had children with.” He cited Omar’s response when asked whether she married her brother: “Not to my knowledge.”
Trump concluded: “Therefore, because she used a fake name to be sworn in, I assume she must IMMEDIATELY resign from Congress.” He added: “Please inform the Speaker of the House of Representatives, James Michael Johnson, that the Dumocrat Party has just conceded her seat.” He further asserted that “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, her real name, has openly admitted to FRAUD,” and declared she “will not be legally allowed to be a Member of this August Body from this point forth.”
