President Donald Trump on October 23 endorsed Max Engling for Indiana secretary of state in a post on X.
Trump described Engling as a lifelong Hoosier, a successful civic leader, and a former staffer to “GREAT U.S. Senator Jim Banks,” adding that he has an “incredible” wife, Kelcey, and four children, and calling him a “true MAGA Warrior.” “Max Engling has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Secretary of State of Indiana — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” he wrote.
Trump asserted that election rules should require both photo identification and proof of citizenship, writing: “ALL VOTERS MUST SHOW PHOTO VOTER I.D. (IDENTIFICATION!) AND, ALL VOTERS MUST SHOW PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP IN ORDER TO VOTE!” He added that “The Dumocrats love to CHEAT,” and said Engling would work to “Safeguard Indiana's Elections.” He also said Engling would focus on “Grow the Economy, Champion our Amazing Farmers and Agriculture, Stop Migrant Crime, Keep Men out of Women’s Sports, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment.”
