$Silvercorp Metals Inc(SVM)$ As shared last week, this week provides more clarity... It's Friday. Do you see it? [Tongue]  As expected (though I didn't say), the Fed raised its rate... and the market? Growth stocks, bitcoin led cryptocurrency, precious metals group led by silver flew!? If this is not clarity, what is... It is actually a strange sense of clarity... Like a humour only this human world 🌍 can bring... a dark humour of sorts. Why do I say that? Yes, the US Fed raised rate and expects to raise rate 1-2 times more this year. Companies with high borrowing pay more interest at higher rates (looking at you, growth stocks [Glance]  [Smug]  [Sweats]  ) With AI led expenditures by hyperscalers, thei

$WHITE CLIFF MINERALS LTD(WCN.AU)$ I do not need Gina Rinehart to tell there's money to be make in copper mining... I have been following this sleepy miner for some time... just takes the richest woman in Australia to send it into a frenzy... I have time on my side. She has no magic and no premium should be attributed to her participation... to her, it's just loose change anyway... maybe to show off to her estranged son, who has been a board member for some time now... be patient and wait for our turn...

The obvious answer is C, which most of the replies suggest. The answer only becomes obvious if an individual gains more experience with investing. However, the answer could also be found in the write-up, under “A margin account is better suited to users who can… A newcomer likely won’t understand how margin works; not to mention understand account risk (if not, how is one to monitor?); meeting margin call requires one to understand what that means to begin with; if one is new to investment, one doesn’t know ones risk tolerance, so price swings would be a whole new overwhelming ball game; finally, who comes into investing expecting to take losses? It’s a totally big ask to seek repayment financing plan then… so you get the gist… margin accounts are not for everyone despite the obvious uses

$Direxion Daily Semiconductors Bear 3x Shares(SOXS)$  it's never enough... at least not yet... I am topping up slowly, perhaps a little too slow to my liking. However, I am also keenly aware that buying into a leveraged short bet, only sufficient buffer would do the job. Something just can't be rushed. This is not the first time I have advocated getting insurance for this time period. There are a couple of things going on, all interconnected. The commonality? Trump-led US mess. Many people sing his praises... for various reasons. I do too, although a little out of tune, for the chaos he created for the world. No, there is no anger in my voice, just incredulously dumbfounded... War with Iran, tariffs for "friends of

This is likely to be one of my last post for EIQ for some time to come. Biotech investment is always risky. We never know till the very end how our investment would turn out. It is a risk we have to accept before we start. Nevertheless, it has always been a fulfilling experience. There’s always so much to learn along the way. With the looming patent cliffs for bio pharmaceuticals, many big pharmaceutical manufacturers are racing against time searching for the next big hits. These are companies with money 💴 to spend, so I will stay on in this space in search of the next winners. This doesn’t mean I have given up on EIQ. It just means that I have parked this aside as I don’t expect much activity for the next 6-12 months. In investing, especially with US market facing possible meltdown in t
@Ah_Meng:$ECHOIQ LTD(EIQ.AU)$ It has been 5-6 days since the announcement by EIQ that FDA didn’t approve its application. EchoSolv HF is off for now. 501(k) is supposed to be an easier and faster way to bring EchoSolv HF into the market. However, FDA has apparently cut that path off with the way the objection was raised. Obviously EIQ can still put EchoSolv HF to the market by using a different path (De Novo) for FDA approval. It’s not a preferred way since it would require a lot more time and effort. At least another 12-18 months would probably be required. Given this new unexpected uncertainty, the big crash in its stock price was expected. This is a genuinely difficult situation, and the honest answer is that there is no "safe" price in the traditiona

$Silvercorp Metals Inc(SVM)$ It has not been a good week for precious metals group related investments. It has been a strange one though. One that I had struggled to hold above water with my current positioning of neutrality. I guess I have weighed too heavily towards precious metals and critical metals. $Silvercorp Metals Inc(SVM)$ is still going strong despite the week's mayhem. With the active war between US and Iran, oil prices have been rising, raising the prospect of global inflationary pressure. EU has just raised its interest rate. Japan, Australia and probably US are all expected to raise their interest rates to combat inflation. Strangely, technology companies' share

$ECHOIQ LTD(EIQ.AU)$ This is another company that really test our patience. From the charts, it is becoming apparent that patience amongst the investing/speculatively crowd is wearing out. Those in the know or who has followed my previous posts would know that the company has been waiting for a FDA approval. Many deals have been signed pending this approval, so the FDA approval becomes increasingly weighted. The failure to get approval could spelt a large correction in the company shares price. Originally, the approval was gradually priced-in. However, with the recent reversal of price, approval triggered upside potential has also become a lot more mouthwatering, if there's a better word. From chart perspective, EIQ is showing lots of weak

$AML3D LTD(AL3.AU)$ It has been a while I last shared this company. No... I have not sold a single share... And yes, I have been holding on all the way down... Furthermore, I have been actively adding to my position. Sometimes, we do need drawdown control. However, it is still dependent on individual stocks and individual's objective and outlook for the company of interest. AML3D is a company that I had absolute fate on early in its run. I have been raising my position slowly, resulting in a much higher capital base. For the first time since my initial investment, the price had actually gone below my cost! I have added once or twice since. It's not irrational decision, nor is it for the purpose of averaging down. The corporate front was pretty

So rather than buying US Treasuries, and those same JPN investors have begun aggressively selling off US debt to bring their cash home. This is the main reason why US had joined Japan government in JPY intervention to support JPY. The cheaper JPY vs USD, the less sense for Japanese to buy new US Treasury. It also makes a lot of sense to sell USD based Treasury as they will end up with a lot more JPY. So, US Treasury is scared! Dead scare... The house of cards might just come tumbling down... It is strange times... while long term Treasury is now considered risky, US equity is still attractive to a certain extent... until it doesn't... remember that the bond market is so much larger compared to equity market. If bond sneezed 🤧, equity crashes...

What you had stated is the normal working government debts system. However, this normal no longer holds: The Failure of the Old Normal - For decades, the global financial system relied on specific "safety valves" that have now stopped working:The Infinite Cheap Capital Loop (Japan): Japan survived a gross debt-to-GDP ratio well over 230% because its interest rates were near 0%. Global investors used this to fund the Yen Carry Trade—borrowing free yen to buy higher-yielding assets like US Treasuries. Because inflation finally broke through Japan's low-growth stagnation, the Bank of Japan (BOJ) had to raise its policy rate. As rates creep higher toward expectations of 1.25%, the carry trade is aggressively unwinding. Furthermore, Japanese 10-year and 30-year bond yields hit multi-decade h

Property prices in most parts of Australia are undergoing correction. It is not just inflation triggered interest rate hikes, the new federal government’s policy of removing negative gearing is having a big effect on reducing investor’s appetite. The result is a withdrawal of property investment. This left only first time buyers in the market. Sellers obviously don’t want to sell to this group as they don’t have the money to pay the asking prices. Sales collapse. Inflation from oil prices hike and removal of government fuel prices subsides is not helping. Central bank might have no choice but to raise interest rate again. Australian inflation has stayed stubbornly high compared to those seen in Singapore. Banks are no doubt benefiting from rates hikes however with less property transaction
@koolgal:🌟🌟Navigating the ASX right now feels like walking on a tightrope.  Between 3 rate hikes by RBA pushing official cash rate to 4.35%, looming Federal Budget capital gains changes &  persistent July inflation print of 3.5%, market anxiety is running high. If forced to trim my holdings, I would lighten up my positions in B: Property shares first, closely followed by A: Tech stocks.  I would also increase my exposure to D: Bank stocks. When interest rates tick higher, the real estate sector gets hit by a double whammy of structural pain: 1: The capital value of commercial property portfolio falls. 2: The big debt service obligations spike instantly, eating into dividends. Tech stocks: High tech names like WiseTech makes it a target for profit taking. I would rotate into Aust

Losing money in a trading session doesn't mean we can't celebrate with food

I have come here especially to buy mooncake to take back to Australia. The traditional teochew yam paste mooncake from Crown Hotel has been shifted over here. Took me a while to find the hotel - Amara. I was basically walking passed the entrance without realisation! Ended up having lunch here as well. I was not too hungry, and they offer dim sum lunch, which suits my current lack in appetite. Had a balanced diet, a porridge (abalone anyone?), beancurd rolls and siu mai, washed down with a fine pot of Chinese tea. Oh... I forgot its free starter, a guava with dried orange peel! Totally gently sweet and refreshing...  It's not your normal dim sum... a classy one. Oh... Let's forget the price for this nice meal 😜 Let's just say the service and ambience makes up for it to give the meal a

$Silvercorp Metals Inc(SVM)$ Revisit SVM, which is going from strength to strength. Despite silver price struggled overnight in US trading session, SVM was able to continue its strong march forward. In fact, upon hitting a recent low at $8.50, followed by a confirmation of inverted head and shoulders, the share price has not looked back. The main reason is linked to the recent backflow in interest in precious metals group in general. Gold has moved from $4000 to $4700 and silver from $55 to now finally assaulting $70 target 🎯. What a turnaround in a couple of weeks! As discussed in another article not long ago, there is a separate reason. SVM has over the years quietly transformed itself. It is no longer a China only silver mining company, neither

$ALKANE RESOURCES LTD(ALK.AU)$ The 2nd coming of gold... just like the 2nd coming of Trump... 2nd coming of Trump proves challenging for US and world at large, but the die was casted and the train 🚆 could not be stopped. The 2nd coming of gold is equally inevitable... the train 🚂 has also left the station... Trump, going headlessly and needlessly into war, both physically and economically, has pushed dedollarisation ahead in time. US dollars 💸, with the raising fiscal deficit and compounding debts, is an unstoppable train. Elon Musk, loves him or hates him, is a respected player in the economic game. I agree with him that the US debts could only be stopped if AI and robots outmanoeuvred the economy, generating excess that makes the debts redunda

$Sun Silver Ltd(SS1.AU)$ I know... still the silver theme... not on AGQ for now, but obviously still related. Silver is hovering around $68.8, a resistance line. The silver price had consolidated and cleared $64.4. It appears that this $68.8-$70 resistance proved a little stubborn. There is a good chance silver price will bounce around this range for a bit, however looking at the secondary charts and the gold charts, the increasing volume and bounce off of RSI and KDJ appears to give silver price that boost to clear $70 sooner rather than later. Sun Silver appears to require this timely boost. Its RSI and KDJ indicators are both pointing downward, which is conflicted by the MACD, which is very much in positive territory. There's also a big spike

Gee… I heard most of these 500 will be doing sales… investment-linked insurance types… which is something I had experienced buying. Mixed bags of feelings… insurance should be what it is, protection. Investment on the other hand should also be what it is, growth and wealth… mixing both together might appear enticing for many older folks who don’t really know investing and simply want more interest for their savings… if the sales pitch says as it is, I would be fine, since even the non-educated would have been informed. A pity, from my past experiences, sales are sales. There’s always a glorifying package that masks 🎭 the actual product. I can only say that as Singaporeans become more affluent (assets and CPF rich), with cars 🚘 being so expensive, those savings have nowhere to go to, it’s n
@koolgal:🌟For years, international fund managers dismissed the Singapore stock market as a slow moving retirement village - a dull boring market with old school banks , matured REITs & industrial conglomerates.  Not any more.
