      3 hours into Tuesday trading, all 3 composite indexes were in the red.  Faring the worse is Nasdaq falling by -1.12%, followed by S&P 500 at -0.53% and then Dow Jones at -0.13%. META's trial on lawsuit over teen addiction to its 2 flagship apps - Facebook & Instagram, saw the Mag 7's giant fell by -4%, pulling Nasdaq along (due to its weightage). Is it too early to say that it is not a good week ?  What do you think ?

      For week ending Fri, 14 Aug 2026, US market performance could at best be described as “mixed”. Overall, the week reflected a classic “good news is good news” dynamic: cooling inflation & steady earnings supported valuations. Soft activity data capped upside and prompted a modest Friday pullback from record highs. By the time market called it a week: DJIA: -0.36% (-340.25 to 53,732.41). S&P 500: +0.44% (+34.02 to 7,785.76). Crossed the 7,800 mark for the 1st time on Thu, 13 Aug 2026. Nasdaq: +0.18% ( +48.72 to 26,729.16). Eked out its 3rd weekly gain in a row, ending the week higher marginally. Weekly Catalysts. Catalysts that have either lifted / dampened market sentiments include: Cooling inflation. NVDA hits $236 breakout before Q2 results ?

      @JC888
      $NVIDIA(NVDA)$ is slated to report its Q2 2026 earnings on Wed, 26 Aug 2026. Is it timely to take a closer look at the stock prior to its earnings release ? I think so, especially if there is a chance to take a position before a potential rally. According to Investor’s Business Daily (IBD), the AI chip giant is (currently), holding just above a short handle entry. Near Buy Point ? Last week, shares of the AI chipmaker edged up a fraction, coming in at +0.64%, for the week, enough to put it just -4.8% below a $236.54 buy point from a cup-shape base. Interestingly, NVDA already offered an early entry from a short handle, with the 7 Aug 2026 high of $224.76 marking the exact buy point. The Relative Strength line for the AI chip stock is rising,

      With about 1.5 hours to go before US market opens for Tuesday trading, things are not looking up.  The composite futures indexes are all in the RED for a 2nd day. This as fears of Middle East tension flares are heading for a resurgence.  It does not help that Trump's unfiltered mouth continue to fan the flames, enlarging to include Oman. NVDA's pre-market price is affected as well.  Is there a 2nd coming for 'dip buying' ?

      With about 1.5 hours to go before US market opens for Tuesday trading. The 3 Composite Futures indexes are NOT looking good. (see attached) -   DJIA (-0.04%), S&P 500 (-0.45%) and Nasdaq (-1.17%). If it persists, the "dip buy" opportunity might come true afterall - do u agree ?

      On Mon, 17  Aug 2026 US mkt fell across the board.  (see attached) According to Wall St, this is due to  (a) Expiry of 60-days US-Iran MOU,  (b) Rising oil prices due to Trump's verbal abuse that has enlarged to include Oman now  (c) post fall-out from US Retail sales report out last Fri, 14 Aug. The "dip buying" opportunity has just emerge, now is to watch for the right moment to grab something "cheap" ? Get ready your buy-list ?

      Replying to @Investing Leon:Hi, thanks for reading my post and sharing your views.  I find it increasingly difficult to read the US market nowadays, especially since end Feb with the start of the Middle East conflict.  6 months into it, there is still no sign of peace. Assuming this conflict drags into November 2026 - where will US market be ?  This seems increasingly possible.  Agree ?//@Investing Leon:The recent performance of major U.S. stock indices has fallen short of expectations, and the broader market may face increasing pressure in the coming period.
