$NVIDIA(NVDA)$ $Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$ Anthropic just filed its S-1. Revenue exploded, losses are still massive, and the market immediately bought the AI trade again. Chips bounced hard. Is this the reset investors were waiting for, or just another relief bounce?
Asian stocks rose, tracking Wall Street gains as Anthropic's IPO filing revived AI enthusiasm ahead of major tech earnings and the Federal Reserve's interest-rate decision. Japan and South Korea advanced, lifting MSCI's Asia-Pacific index 0.6%. The S&P 500 gained 0.7%, the Nasdaq 100 rose 1.1%, and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index surged 2.8%, its strongest session since September 21. AI financing dominated headlines. Meta plans to raise up to $95 billion through common and preferred share offerings, Broadcom secured a $63 billion financing deal with Bank of America, Blackstone, Citigroup and Morgan Stanley to fund chips for Anthropic, and SpaceX signed an approximately $40 billion equipment-financing lease with Apollo Global Management for its AI expansion. Anthropic's planned IPO
$SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust(SPY)$ $Invesco QQQ(QQQ)$ Rough day for the overall markets, now trading under support. This is normal for October, especially in a Midterms year. A little pullback to catch some breath was probably needed. Like every dip in history, it's a generational buying opportunity for long-term holds.
$SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust(SPY)$ $Invesco QQQ(QQQ)$ $United States Oil Fund LP(USO)$ $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ Semi is now in volume production. The top version can go 500 miles fully loaded at 82,000 lbs, at an efficiency of 1.7 kWh per mile. That means it uses about a third of the energy of a comparable diesel truck to haul the same load. In trucking, energy is one of the biggest costs per mile, so Tesla says that gives Semi operators a real advantage. The Nevada factory is built for 25,000 Semis a year, and Tesla deployed its first pre-assembled Megacharger to support the ramp.
$Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$ Anthropic just came out saying they have a new agentic LM to try to compete with MUSE, but they still don't have MET's massive lineup of DAU apps like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, MUSE, Ray Bans, and the billions of daily active users that come with them. Anthropic is also likely going to charge 5-10x what MUSE charges for pro developers and retail use, so that brief drop from a few minutes ago probably won't last more than 15 minutes while the algo quant shorts bury themselves again. I added another 2k shares into the Q call.
