Stocks to Watch Oct 27: The Market Is Green, But Wednesday Is the Real Test

Monday looked reassuring.

Nasdaq +0.82%

S&P 500 +0.70%

Dow +0.28%

After two difficult weeks for technology, AI buyers returned.

But I would not interpret one green session as an all-clear.

This week has an unusual setup:

Fed + Microsoft + Alphabet + Amazon + memory earnings

That means Tuesday is less about chasing what already moved and more about identifying where Wednesday and Thursday could create the next asymmetric trade.

Here are the five pressure points I am watching.

1. MICROSOFT: THE AI ROI TEST

MSFT enters earnings around $529-$533, close to recent highs.

That makes the hurdle high.

I want to see:

Azure acceleration

AI revenue growth

Capex discipline

Free cash flow

Microsoft does not need to prove AI demand exists.

It needs to prove the billions spent satisfying that demand are generating enough incremental economics.

My trade map

🟢 Above $545: breakout confirmation

🟡 $520-$525: first support

🟢 $505-$515: preferred pullback

For me, MSFT is less attractive to chase before earnings than after we see whether Azure justifies the premium.

2. ALPHABET: THE BETTER ASYMMETRY?

GOOG is much more interesting.

It has fallen from roughly $338.50 to $314, while Microsoft remains near its highs.

That means expectations have already been reset.

Google does not necessarily need spectacular numbers.

It needs to prove:

Search remains resilient + Google Cloud accelerates + AI monetisation improves.

If that happens, the rebound could be disproportionately large because pessimism is already reflected in the chart.

🟡 $310-$315: current battleground

🟢 $300-$305: first pick

🟢 Above $325-$330: recovery signal

🟢 $338-$340: major confirmation

Between MSFT and GOOG, I currently prefer GOOG's short-term risk/reward, while MSFT remains the cleaner execution story.

3. MICRON: MY SECOND-ORDER BIG TECH TRADE

This may be the more interesting setup.

MU rebounded toward $900 after last week's violent selloff.

Why?

Because Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon ultimately write some of the cheques funding the AI infrastructure boom.

If their earnings confirm continued aggressive AI deployment:

Cloud → GPUs → HBM → DRAM → storage → power

Micron benefits further down that chain.

Add SK Hynix earnings this week and MU effectively gets multiple external read-throughs without reporting itself.

MU levels

🟡 $880-$900: battleground

🟢 $840-$860: preferred pick

🟢 Above $930-$950: bullish confirmation

🟢 $1,000+: back in play if memory earnings and hyperscaler capex align

I would rather buy MU on controlled weakness than chase another vertical memory spike.

4. SANDISK: THURSDAY'S BREADTH TEST

SNDK is the stock I am watching to determine whether the memory boom is expanding beyond HBM.

Its earnings need to answer:

Is enterprise SSD demand accelerating?

Is NAND pricing improving?

Is supply discipline holding?

If yes, the narrative changes from:

“HBM shortage”

to:

“Broad memory upcycle.”

That distinction matters enormously.

Strong SNDK numbers alongside strong SK Hynix commentary would be one of my most bullish signals for the entire memory complex.

5. THE FED: THE CATALYST BEHIND ALL FOUR

This may actually determine whether good earnings are rewarded.

The 10-year Treasury yield is hovering around 5%, while energy prices remain elevated.

That creates a difficult backdrop for expensive growth stocks.

If the Fed sounds patient and yields stabilise, strong tech earnings could produce a powerful relief move.

But if the market starts pricing tighter policy again, even excellent earnings may struggle to expand multiples.

So my framework is:

🟢 Strong earnings + stable/falling yields

Best environment.

AI and semiconductors can rally together.

🟡 Strong earnings + rising yields

Stock-picker's market.

Only companies with exceptional cash generation win.

🔴 Weak earnings + rising yields

Worst combination.

I would reduce risk quickly rather than automatically buy every dip.

MY OCT 27 PLAYBOOK

I am not chasing Monday's index rally.

I am positioning around confirmation.

My ranking today:

🥇 GOOG

Best earnings asymmetry because expectations have already fallen.

🥈 MU

My preferred second-order AI trade if hyperscaler spending and memory demand remain strong.

🥉 MSFT

Highest-quality setup, but the market already expects quality.

4. SNDK

Higher volatility, but potentially the most important test of whether memory strength is broadening.

5. CASH

Yes, cash makes the list.

With the Fed and several trillion dollars of Big Tech reporting within roughly 48 hours, there is no reason I need to deploy everything before the information arrives.

🔮 MY BASE CASE

50%: Earnings are good, but reactions diverge. Capital efficiency becomes the deciding factor.

30%: Big Tech beats convincingly, yields cooperate and AI infrastructure gets another leg higher.

20%: Capex concerns plus hawkish rates overwhelm otherwise decent earnings.

The mistake this week would be thinking:

“Nasdaq is green, therefore risk is gone.”

I see something different.

The market is approaching a confirmation point.

Big Tech must prove AI investment is becoming cash.

Memory companies must prove AI demand is broadening.

And the Fed must avoid making the discount-rate problem worse.

If all three happen together, I become considerably more aggressive.

Until then:

Buy confirmation, not excitement.

And watch the companies receiving the AI cheques just as closely as the companies writing them.

I am not a financial advisor. Trade wisely, Comrades!

My Oct 27 watchlist: GOOG → MU → MSFT → SNDK. What is yours?

For MU, broadening demand has to show up beyond HBM hype: inventory trend plus gross margin tells more. If memory tightens without cash flow follow-through, the AI chain still looks narrow

545 is the real confirmation level. Below 525, this still looks like earnings range chop.
