[Events] Nasdaq's Big Week: Rally or Selloff?

The Nasdaq is heading into one of the most event-packed weeks of the year. And after last week's tech selloff, investors have plenty of reasons to stay on edge.

The Nasdaq Composite plunged 2.86% on Friday, then slipped another 1.07% on Monday, closing at 25,164.32.

Now, three major catalysts are lining up: the U.S. midterm elections, a fresh round of tech earnings, and Friday's jobs report.Could this be the week tech stocks finally bounce back? Or is another selloff on the way?

Three Big Events, One Volatile Week

1. U.S. Midterms: Will Politics Move the Market?

Americans head to the polls on November 3, with control of Congress at stake.

The results could reshape expectations for government spending, tax policy and tech regulation. Markets will be watching closely to see whether the outcome brings greater policy clarity or fresh uncertainty.

2. Tech Earnings: Can AI Stocks Regain Momentum?

Apple and Palantir have already reported, with AMD, Qualcomm and Arm among the big names still on this week's earnings calendar.

Investors are asking a tougher question about AI: Are companies generating enough returns to justify their enormous investments?

Strong results could help restore confidence. But with valuations still under scrutiny, even an earnings beat may not be enough to spark a rally.

3. Friday's Jobs Report: Another Test for the Fed

The October U.S. employment report arrives on November 6.

Stronger-than-expected hiring could fuel concerns about interest rates staying higher for longer. A surprisingly weak report, meanwhile, could raise questions about economic growth.

Either outcome could move Treasury yields and put tech stocks back in the spotlight.

Nasdaq: +1.5% this week | Friday close: 25,818

With a packed calendar featuring Apple, AMD, Midterm elections, and U.S. jobs data, high volatility is guaranteed. My game plan focuses on a hedged dip-buying approach using cash-secured puts rather than chasing green candles.

    1. Strategic Entry on $NVDA & $QQQ: Following the semiconductor pullback, selling OTM cash-secured puts on $NVDA and $QQQ lets me collect elevated volatility premiums while locking in favorable cost bases at lower support levels.

    2. Defensive Hedging: To guard against election jitters or a surge in Treasury yields, I’m holding 20% in cash and running tight put spreads on $QQQ as downside insurance.

This setup earns yield from high IV while keeping risk tightly controlled.

My prediction: The Nasdaq Composite will finish the week up approximately 0.8%, with a Friday closing price around 25,365.

After last week's sharp tech selloff, I think some bargain hunting could emerge, particularly if AMD, Qualcomm and Arm deliver solid earnings. However, the market needs more than impressive revenue growth. Investors increasingly want proof that massive AI investments are translating into sustainable profits and stronger cash flows.

The midterm elections could create short-term volatility, while Friday's jobs report may influence expectations for the Fed's next move.

My view is that technology stocks could experience a relief rally, but the upside may remain limited by high valuations and uncertainty surrounding AI spending.

I'm cautiously bullish, but not aggressively buying the dip. This week, earnings quality and forward guidance will matter more than headline beats.

I expect the Nasdaq $NASDAQ(.IXIC)$ to remain volatile this week, but I think a technical rebound is possible after last week's sharp selloff. My prediction is a modest weekly decline of around 0.5% to 1%, with the Nasdaq closing near 25,200 points on Friday.

I will be watching $Advanced Micro Devices(AMD)$ $Qualcomm(QCOM)$ and $ARM Holdings(ARM)$ closely, especially their AI growth outlook and future earnings guidance. For me, strong revenue growth is no longer enough; companies also need to demonstrate that their AI investments can generate sustainable returns and cash flow.

My strategy is to stay cautious, maintain some cash and avoid chasing short-term rebounds. I remain positive on the long-term AI and semiconductor themes, so I would consider gradual DCA if quality stocks pull back further. I will also be careful with leveraged ETFs like TQQQ in this volatile environment.

Nasdaq: +1.3% this week | Friday close: ~25,768

I’m leaning towards a modest rebound rather than a full risk-on rally. After Friday’s 2.86% fall and Monday’s additional weakness, some bad news and AI valuation anxiety should already be reflected in positioning.

The biggest swing factor for me is tech earnings. Strong AMD, Qualcomm and Arm guidance could stabilise semiconductor sentiment, but investors now seem to demand evidence that AI capex is translating into revenue and profits, not merely more spending.

The jobs report is the wildcard. A moderate reading that avoids both recession fears and a sharp rise in yields would probably be the best outcome for Nasdaq.

My plan: continue DCA rather than chase a bounce. I would keep extra cash available if another valuation-driven selloff creates better entries.
