[Earnings Recap] Amazon Falls 7%, Intel Plunges 23%. What's Wrong?

Thursday’s earnings showed that rapid AI growth no longer guarantees a positive stock reaction. Amazon reported AWS’s fastest expansion in nearly five years, but its shares fell as capital spending drove free cash flow deeply negative. Intel’s quarterly profit beat was overwhelmed by a weak forecast. Sandisk also slipped despite strong earnings and an 8-for-1 stock split announcement. Reddit plunged on slowing search traffic, while Eli Lilly rallied as demand for its weight-loss drugs continued to surge. $Amazon.com(AMZN)$ $Intel(INTC)$ $Reddit(RDDT)$ $SanDisk Corp.(SNDK)$ $Eli Lilly

🟢 Hold, 🔴 Sell, or 🟡 Wait? Why My Earnings Night Strategy relies on Implied Volatility and Asymmetric Risk Whenever earnings season arrives, retail investors often split into two emotional camps: those who gamble on a massive post-earnings gap-up, and those who panic-sell early to avoid a potential crash. However, approaching earnings with a binary “Hold or Sell” mindset treats the market like a casino. For me, navigating earnings night is strictly an exercise in probability, position sizing, and managing Asymmetric Risk. If I had to summarize my core stance, it is: 🟡 Wait for tactical entries, but 🟢 Hold long-term high-conviction compounders—provided position size is controlled. Here is the exact playbook and mental framework I execute during earnings season. 1. The Trap of Binary Thinkin

Earnings Night: I Don’t Let One Report Decide My Investment Whenever a company is about to report earnings, I think the real question is not simply whether the stock will go up or down the next day. Nobody knows that with certainty. The more important question is whether I am comfortable with what could happen if the market reacts very differently from what I expect. Personally, I would not automatically sell just because earnings are coming, nor would I blindly hold every position and hope for the best. My decision would depend on why I bought the stock, how much it has already run up, and how much downside I can realistically accept. 1. If I bought for the long term, I would not panic over one night If I invested in a company because I believe its business can grow over the next three to

“Be greedy when others are fearful, and be fearful when others are greedy.” This timeless investment principle is especially relevant when identifying quality stocks with strong long-term growth potential. When the market is driven by fear and panic, it may create opportunities to accumulate fundamentally strong companies at attractive valuations. Conversely, when euphoria takes over and everyone rushes to buy, it is time to remain cautious, assess valuations, and avoid being swept up by the crowd. The key is to invest in quality, not just cheap prices. Focus on companies with strong fundamentals, sustainable competitive advantages, healthy balance sheets, and the ability to generate consistent earnings and cash flow. For long-term investors, market volatility is not necessarily th

I would trim some before earnings. As I still believe in the long term potential of MSFT, AMZN, META and Googl, I would do a bull put spread if it drops and and bear call spread if it rise. I will monitor further if I want to close the legs early or be assigned or call the stock away. I would also build up the war chest if I can. This is ideal plan. **I hold MSFT and refuse to sell before earnings.** Microsoft remains one of the strongest compounders in the market. Azure continues to accelerate on AI demand, with growth expected in the mid-40s percent range and capacity still the main constraint rather than customer appetite. Copilot adoption is expanding enterprise-wide, supporting higher monetization across Microsoft 365 and the broader Intelligent Cloud business. The company’s scale, distribution, and balance sheet give it durable advantages that short-term volatility cannot erase. Selling ahead of the print would force me to time both the exit and a potential re-entry perfectly. History shows Microsoft often beats expectations and raises guidance, rewarding patient holders. SNDK: I’d trim, not chase the beat. SanDisk delivered a strong Q1 FY27: $11.03B revenue and $49.51 adjusted EPS; Q2 guidance is higher. But great results are not automatically a great entry price. The risk is that AI-storage growth and elevated NAND pricing are already priced for near-perfect execution. I’d watch whether data-center demand converts into durable margins, pricing holds as supply responds, and weakness in consumer NAND spreads. Consumer revenue fell 39% year over year—a reminder that not every segment shares the boom. My approach is to take partial profits after a strong run and keep a smaller position only if the thesis still holds. I’d buy a dip only if guidance and pricing remain firm—not just because the chart looks cheaper. A beat can still disappoint when expectations a

Would I Hold a Stock Overnight Before Earnings? It Depends on What I’m Risking Honestly, I don’t think holding a stock overnight before earnings is necessarily brave, and selling beforehand doesn’t mean someone lacks conviction. Both decisions can make sense. What matters is whether the potential reward is worth the risk of waking up to a price move I didn’t expect. Earnings announcements are different from ordinary trading days. A company can report decent results and still see its share price tumble, while another can rally even after reporting a loss. The market isn’t reacting only to what has already happened. It’s reacting to whether the results and outlook are better or worse than investors had anticipated. That is why I wouldn’t make my decision based on the headline numbers alone.

Would I Hold Through Earnings? CRCL and BYND Report the Same Night, but My Answer Is Completely Different

Earnings season always creates the same dilemma: Hold overnight and risk the gap? Or sell beforehand and risk watching the stock explode without you? I think that is the wrong question. On Nov 4, two stocks on my radar report after the bell: Circle (CRCL) Beyond Meat (BYND) Both can move violently. Both have passionate bulls and bears. But I would not manage them remotely the same way. Why? Because overnight risk should not be determined by how exciting a stock is. It should be determined by: How much of the thesis can earnings actually prove? 🟢 CRCL: I WANT EXPOSURE, BUT NOT MAXIMUM EXPOSURE Circle's earnings are much bigger than whether EPS beats consensus. The market needs answers to three questions. 1. Is USDC still expanding? This is the engine. More USDC circulation means a larger re

📈 DJI Top 10 Gainers: What's Driving the Rally, What Earnings Reveal & What Comes Next?

💊 Healthcare, 🛍️ Consumer and 🏭 Industrial Blue Chips Lead the Rally — But Which Stocks Have Real Earnings Support? 🔥 The Dow Jones Industrial Average's top 10 gainers reveal an interesting shift in market dynamics. Rather than being dominated by technology giants, the leaderboard features pharmaceutical companies, consumer brands, industrial manufacturers, and payment networks. 🥇 $Merck(MRK)$ led with +3.83%, followed by $Home Depot(HD)$ , $Nike(NKE)$ , and $Boeing(BA)$ . 💡 Key Takeaway: Not all rallies are created equal. 📈 DJI Top 10 Gainers: What's Driving the Rally, What Earnings Reveal & What Comes Next?
TOP苏36: I would pickMRK over the other Dow gainers, although 3M deserves attention. Merck offers pharmaceutical growth, while 3M represents an operational turnaround opportunity. Merck's Q3 2026 revenue reached $18.1 billion (+5% YoY), with adjusted EPS of $2.49 beating expectations. WINREVAIR's growth highlights its expanding business beyond Keytruda. However, Keytruda's patent expiration in 2028 remains a major risk. Meanwhile, 3M delivered 12% adjusted EPS growth and raised its full-year guidance, suggesting restructuring is translating into financial improvements. My investment view:MRK has stronger growth visibility, while MMM offers margin-recovery potential. would prioritize earnings revisions, free cash flow and valuation rather than chasing daily rallies. The real opportunity lies where earnings growth still has room to surprise the market. @AI_FocusedTrader [龇牙]

$Alphabet(GOOG)$  Google just got smacked ~10% after earnings. Asia market woke up, saw the numbers, and collectively hit the sell button like it was Black Friday for panic. Why the plunge? Here’s the TLDR version: Search ads (the cash cow) slowed more than expected. Revenue from search came in light. Google’s own AI Mode (the chatty answer thing) is starting to nibble at traditional search results, which means fewer high-paying ad clicks. Investors hate anything that looks like the golden goose is getting a diet. Massive AI spending turned free cash flow deeply negative. Capex hit around $51 billion in the quarter. Post-Market Drama: Why Is the Market Dropping Right Now?  If you opened your stock app after the 4 am closing bell and wondered why the sea of green suddenly turned deep red, you aren't alone. Intel (INTC) just dropped its earnings report, and after-hours trading is taking a sharp nose-dive.   Here is the quick breakdown of what’s happening, why it feels so dramatic, and how it mirrors what we saw with Alphabet (Google). 1. What Happened with Intel? Intel actually beat expectations on both revenue ($16.5B) and earnings ($0.52/share vs $0.39 expected) for the last quarter.   So why did the stock plunge ~20% after hours? The dreaded forward guidance. Wall Street doesn't care as much about where you’ve been; it cares about where you're going. Intel warned that Q4 reve

MEMORY BOOM - AI’S Hottest Trade Is Getting More Expensive

Wall Street finished Wednesday in positive territory, but the real story was unfolding beneath the surface. Oracle Jumped 10.7%. The $225B Target Is Not Why I Am More Bullish.

Oracle just surged 10.7%. The obvious headline is: $225B+ revenue by FY2030. Impressive. But that is not the number that changed my view. The number I care about is: $20 BILLION. That is the maximum additional capital-market funding Oracle says it needs through FY2030, excluding refinancing. Why does that matter? Because Oracle's biggest problem was never AI demand. It was: How much money must Oracle burn, borrow and raise before AI becomes self-funding? Investor Day finally gave us an answer. And that may explain much more of Wednesday's rally than the giant revenue target. 🔵 ORACLE'S REAL PROBLEM WAS NEVER DEMAND Look at what Oracle is trying to build. Massive AI data centres. Cloud capacity. GPU clusters. Power infrastructure. Networking. Storage. Database infrastructure. The customers

AI’S $800 BILLION QUESTION - Microsoft Finds the Balance, Alphabet Pays the Price

Big Tech earnings arrived like buses on Wednesday: after days of waiting, Alphabet and Microsoft reported results within hours of each other. $Fortinet(FTNT)$ fell over 22% following its Q3 2026 earnings report, erasing a significant portion of its 120% year-to-date rally.
